What to Expect

Welcome to the Hallettsville Methodist Church! Every church is different! If you are coming to this church for the first time, you may have some questions.

How should I dress?
You will find that our church community is comfortable dressing in many different ways. You will find some people dressed in jeans and t-shirts, while others wear their Sunday best, and everything in between. We welcome you to dress however you feel comfortable.

There is parking on Dowling Street right in front of the church. There is a larger parking lot on the other side of the street as well. Handicapped parking is available near the front of the church or behind the church.

Where do I enter the building?
The main entrance for worship is through the arched doorway.

What is the worship service like?
Our Sunday morning service usually begins with a welcome from the pastor and opening prayer. After greeting one another, we move into a time of music, and reading of scripture, followed by the sermon, a time of thanksgiving and prayer, a closing song and a blessing. A normal Sunday service usually lasts for one hour.

May I take communion?
The table is open. We believe that Holy Communion is a real sharing in the real presence of Jesus Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit you are invited to participate in this experience of God’s grace, open to adults and children alike. We use grape juice for communion.

What about children in worship?

Childcare is available for children ages four and under during worship time. This said, all children are welcome to join us in worship. When you come for a visit you will see that children and young people are not only welcome, but encouraged to actively participate in worship in a variety of ways.
